What drives Watermelon Music?

At Watermelon Music, we’ve always wanted to be a strong community resource. We do sell instruments and accessories, but more importantly, we have a huge rental fleet for students and young musicians to learn on saxophones, violins, and other common instruments.

What caused you to pursue a banking relationship?

It all started when I had the opportunity to buy this building and become my own landlord. I knew I wasn’t going to fund it from an out-of-town mega-bank. It had to be a local bank with a strong community focus, like I have. First Northern Bank helped me with an owner-occupied SBA Loan. The number of zeros at the end of the number was bigger than anything I’ve ever dealt with, but my banker broke down the terms for me and compared it to my current rent. 

Why did you feel a local bank was so important?

I needed someone who knew my business and the community. By using a local bank, I am helping contribute to the growth and infrastructure within my community. I also didn’t want to punch an 800 number when I had questions. If there is something I don’t understand, First Northern is ready to address my questions and concerns.
